Female Tiger Kills Its Own Mate

Tiger kills his mate at the San Diego Zoo. A tigress died after being assaulted by her partner during a mating at the San Diego Zoo, when the interaction turned aggressive.

Malayan tiger died on Saturday from neck injuries and respiratory problems, the zoo said. It was the first meeting of the tigers, the only Malayan specimens in the zoo. Visitors to the park did not observe the attack.

"(The encounter) began as a friendly interaction between the cats. Unfortunately the dynamic quickly turned aggressive and zookeepers were unable to separate the animals," the organization said in a statement.

The tigers had rotated between the exhibit and their bedrooms to familiarize each other with each other's scent, zoo spokeswoman Jenny said. They had frequented and even sniffed each other while separated by a barrier, she added.

Their interaction led the keepers to believe that they were ready to interbreed.

There are 60 captive Malayan tigers in North American zoos, said Cassidy, general curator of the Omaha Zoo and Aquarium in Nebraska, which has two tigresses. Fewer than 500 Malayan tigers are believed to lead wildlife worldwide.

Fatal attacks are rare among cats, but their behavior can be unpredictable during mating, Cassidy said.

Tiga Tahun was born in 2009 at the Bronx Zoo.The tiger she was to meet was Connor, who was born at the San Diego Zoo in 2011. 

In November, a lioness died after being bitten on the neck by a lion at the Dallas Zoo in full view of visitors and families visiting the place.

Cats & Dogs Showing Signs Of Covid-19

As omicron sweeps through Florida homes, more pet owners are reporting their dogs or cats showing signs of coronavirus.

Pets around the world, including cats and dogs, have become infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, primarily after close contact with people with COVID-19.

One manufacturer of a pet COVID PCR test has tested more than 5,000 samples collected from dogs, cats, and horses that had respiratory illnesses. Testing confirmed more than three dozen COVID cases in a dog or cat during the pandemic. Most of the animals were in a home where humans had the virus.

Dr. Alison of Victoria Park Animal Hospital in Fort Lauderdale said that if a dog or cat comes into her office with symptoms like diarrhea or vomiting and someone in the household has had COVID, she is treating the symptoms rather than evaluating the animal to detect the virus.

Cats are more susceptible than dogs and more likely to catch COVID from their owners, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

Some pets that tested positive for COVID became ill with breathing and breathing problems, while others suffer from vomiting and diarrhea, according to veterinarians at VCA Animal Hospitals.

Big cats, particularly tigers and lions, have also been affected by the virus. An outbreak at the Bronx Zoo in New York State, likely due to an infected zookeeper, resulted in 4 tigers and 3 lions with coughs and respiratory problems. Another outbreak in Malayan tigers occurred at Zoo Knoxville, Tennessee.

Rodents have also had coronavirus. Last week, Hong Kong announced the culling of more than 1,000 domestic hamsters and the quarantining of their owners in response to fears that the pets have spread the coronavirus to people. COVID cases have also been confirmed in mink, ferrets, gorillas, snow leopards, and cougars.

Giant Fish Tank Bursts At Disney Restaurant

There was panic in a restaurant when a giant aquarium which is part of the theme decoration of the place, broke in the middle of a Disney restaurant in Florida. 

It began to crack and then burst open while diners at the T-Rex Café restaurant, inside Disney World in Florida were tucking into their dinner.

Visitors to the place panicked as they experienced moments of terror when a giant aquarium broke apart, flooding the place. Many of them fled the scene immediately while others were curious about the facts and took advantage of the moment to take some photos and video when the water gushed nonstop.

The commotion was great and some customers got wet, but fortunately the fish were saved by the restaurant employees. 

The restaurant staff immediately came out to investigate what had happened. Some cleaners tried in vain to save the fish that were ejected from the huge container.

During the incident no one was injured but many of the fish lost their lives.

This giant fish tank is located in the bar of the T-Rex restaurant in Downtown Disney, an entertainment complex located in Walt Disney World. T-Rex is also one of the park's themed restaurants. In addition to the aquarium, giant dinosaurs decorate the establishment.
